Entertaiment
Entertaining is a word whose meaning has evolved along with the media and art forms that it describes. It has come to be strongly associated with amusement, but can also encompass ceremonies, celebrations, festivals, or satire. It can be adapted to suit any scale, from an individual choosing their own entertainment from a wide selection of pre-recorded products; to banquets arranged for two; to performances intended for thousands; and even for a global audience.
Entertaiment is abbreviated to entmt on fliers, in industry news publications, or for short hand note taking. However, it is not abbreviated in general prose. Often, entertainment hits on the themes that our brains were evolutionarily shaped to react deeply to, such as backstabbing and murder. This is one of the reasons why entertainment often causes a reaction in its audiences, and makes them laugh or cry out of pleasure and emotion.
